Flyers swim to second in conference meet

Nate Courville won the 100-yard backstroke in 58.04 and finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:54.9 as Framingham’s boys swimming team finished runnerup to Needham in the Bay State Conference Championship Meet February 2nd at Brookline.

Courville was also part of the 200 medley relay along with Josh Herzberg, Tim Long, and Hunter Olson that finished second in 1:46.43.

Framingham recorded 337 points behind Needham’s winning total of 370. Natick finished sixth with 105.

Long finished second in the 200 IM (2:08.25) and third in the 100-butterfly (58.88), Olson took second in the 200-free (1:55.77) and third in the 100 free (52.96). Josh Herzberg placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:08.30) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:17.09). Ryan Weeks placed third in the 500 free and fifth in the 200 free (1:58.21). Matt Sedewitz placed fourth in the butterfly (59.69) and fifth in the backstroke (1:02.13).

Natick senior Doug Dube qualified for states in the 50 free in 23.71, and also qualified for sectionals in the 100-breaststroke at 1:08.56. Dube joined Morgan Connelly, Christian McPherson, and Evan Thom on a 200 medley relay that qualified for states in 1:51.47.
